My name is Samer Marzouq, I’m a media and marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience. I’m passionate about content because I do believe it’s where magic happens, of course delivering the right piece of content to the right audience is an art in itself, but eventually it all comes down to your content – your narrative, your messages, your visuals, your stories. Your content is what’s going to make it or break it.
Throughout my career I worked for a number of social media and public relations agencies, where I gained a mixed bag of experience in the field of marketing, I also worked for few online media outlets and created my own blogs, websites and social media channels, which broadened my horizons and enabled me to the see the world of marcomms from a different perspective.
Professionally I’m a bilingual copywriter with experience in writing long-form and short-form copy in Arabic and English. When it comes to long-form, like press releases, op-eds, talking points, media interviews, and web copy, I’m more comfortable writing in Arabic, however, for shorter text, like social media captions and video scripts, I’m comfortable writing in both languages.
My linguistic skills in both languages enable me to adapt the copy from one language to the other while conveying the same messages, and maintaining the integrity of the language. It’s transcreation, not translation.
Aside from my professional occupation, I’m a self-taught videographer. I enjoy filming and editing videos, especially for cars, motorsport, aeroplanes and boats. It’s something that I started a few years ago out of passion, and I continue to hone my skills in this area everyday.
Ideation and research for campaigns and strategies is something I have experience with. Live coverage is another area where we can collaborate, so if you have a product launch or a major announcement and you want to keep your audience closer to the action, I can capture videos and photos and write captions on the go.
